Write for us

We welcome pitches that begin with a particular place, detail or question and open it up with care. Proposals should be sent through the Contact page; please include a short outline and why the subject suits Southern Story House.

What we welcome

Ideas may explore a building, landscape, place name, local memory or everyday setting. We are interested in focused pieces that help readers notice something specific, explain its context and acknowledge where evidence or interpretation has limits.

A useful pitch

Tell us the proposed subject, the central question, the likely shape of the piece and what material could support its account. Mention any access, image or attribution needs that may affect the idea. A clear, modest scope is more useful than a broad claim about a whole region.

Before sending

Please use the Contact page for proposals and choose the editorial enquiry option. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication; do not send confidential material or assume an assignment has been agreed before hearing back.

Our point of view

A place is never only a backdrop

Its shape, names and remembered uses all matter. We follow those details without pretending one account can speak for everyone.
